RETAIL: You can find our carded batts at Ginger Twist in Edinburgh, Caledonian Wool Company in Ft. William, and right across the water from the mill in Bonar Bridge at Jacquie’s Art Shop (open Tuesdays 10-12noon, Wednesdays & Thursdays 10am-4pm).

ONLINE: We currently have in stock, available for posting anywhere in the UK:

Black Cheviot, 100g batts: £8 (+ postage)
Dutch Spotted, 100g batts: £8 (+ postage)
Hebridean, 100g batts: £9 (+postage)
DCL, 1st and 2nd clip, picked and lightly washed, £5 per 100g (+ postage)

All of the above are 100% produced and processed in Scotland!

We also have – on a one time only basis – RESCUED Chocolate Cheviot, sourced in Scotland, from a client who purchased it in Northumbria. We thought it was Scottish, but when we found out it was *newly* Scottish, we thought it was too lovely and too good to waste (and wasn’t Northumbrian Scottish, once upon a time? 😉), so we’ve cleaned it up and put it on offer for a discount rate of £7 (+ postage) per 100g batt. Living our motto: there’s no such thing as ‘waste’ wool!

All our wool is sourced in Scotland, unless otherwise noted (as with our ‘rescue’ finds), with provenance noted on the labels.

There’s no such thing as “waste” wool! Everything has a use: cotted wool that’s too dirty to process can be used as mulch – the Hirsel uses it on fruit trees and bushes, to help get through the summer. Trimmings and sweepings can be used in the compost pile. During our heaviest processing months – June through October – we always have some for you to take home. Let us know if you’d like to be on the call list for this amazing and underappreciated resource.

For online orders, or to tell us what you’re looking for so we can try to source it for you, email: info@highlandwool.com

This year, we’re buying more fleece. We’re looking for clean fleeces (skirted and large VM removed, no cotted fleeces please) from the 2026 shear, particularly from farms fairly local to the mill (IV24 3DJ) and from breeds listed on the RBST’s Watchlist. Note, we are not seeking white Cheviot or Hebridean at this time. Our general rate of pay is £1 per kg, but we can pay as much as £2 per kg for exceptional fleeces. We pay a deposit, and the remainder within 12 months, sometimes sooner. We are also able to trade on a case by case basis: your fleeces in return for an agreed number of carded batts. Email info@highlandwool.com if you think we might be interested in your fleeces.
